WILLIAM CLARKE JONES, born August 12, 1923 in Camden, AL, died March 5, 2014 in Spanish Fort, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Hines Jones and Juliette Watson Jones, his wife of 56 years, Catherine Cannon Jones (Bebe) and sister, Taylor Jones Harper. He is survived by his three daughters, Martha Taylor Jones (William Hutton), Nancy Jones Hess (Leonard) and Susan Jones Luce (Greg); six grandchildren, Marita Bowman Beier (Lee), Caleb Lee Bowman (Lisa), Clayton Robert Bowman, Kate Cannon Luce, John Gregory Luce (Karen) and Sarah Luce Watkins (Christopher); six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Watson Jones. Mr. Jones attended The Citadel until entering the Army during WWII. He was a 1948 graduate of the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. A long-time resident of Birmingham, AL, he was a member of the Shades Valley Presbyterian Church and was employed by the Upjohn Company before retiring to Camden, AL. A funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Camden, AL on March 13, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive visitors in the sanctuary at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Allyrae P Wallace Educational Trust in care of J.
