Lt. Col. William Fred Jernigan, Jr. (Ret.) age 76, of Greenville, Alabama formerly of Tyler, Texas, died peacefully with his loving and devoted wife by his side on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Dunklin Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jernigan is preceded in death by his son, Carl Wayne Jernigan; parents, William Fred Jernigan, Sr. and Thelma Irene Gentry Jernigan. He is survived by his wife, Joi Rogers Jernigan; children, Joshua Cannon, Mary Susan (Easton) Downey, Elisabeth Cannon; beloved grandsons, Elijah Downey, Wyatt Downey; honorary grandson, Hunter Mapes; sisters, Peggy (Raymond) Tucker, Patsy (Dave) Clarke; nieces and nephews, Gayle Yeiser (Scott) Wunch, Douglas Yeiser, Bart (Glenda) Armstrong, Teri (Lyle) Agnew, along with many adored great and great-great nieces and nephews.
