Mr. William Vaiden "Pete" Curry, Sr., age 72, a resident of Camden, AL, died on
Saturday, October 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at
Camden United Methodist Church, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ed Shirley officiating and Dunklin
& Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Camden City Cemetery. The family
will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
Mr. Curry attended Auburn University, where was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He
graduated from Troy University, where he received a degree in Business Accounting. He
worked for MacMillan Bloedel for 30 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of
the Camden United Methodist Church and served on the Camden National Bank Board of
Directors for 22 years and on the J. Paul Jones Hospital Board of Directors for 23 years.
Mr. Curry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Nell McDuffie "Sister" Curry
and daughter, Nell Jones Curry Corte. He is survived by his son, William Vaiden (Sommer)
Curry, Jr. of Camden, AL, grandchildren, Julio "Jay" Corte IV of Daphne, AL, William Vaiden
Curry III and Julian Steele Curry of Camden, AL, brothers, James Dickey (Jacque) Curry of
Camden, AL, Joe Wallace (Pat) Curry of Dothan, AL, and several nieces and nephews.
