Mr. William Edward "Buddy" Luke, Sr. born in Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home in Letohatchee, Alabama surrounded by loved ones.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rev. Olin and Essie Luke of Lake Alfred, Florida and sister, Betty (Bobby) Fout of Macon, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet Sue Luke, and his sister, Doris (Dykes) Spears of Winter Haven, Florida, as well as his nieces and nephews. He had many special and beloved friends: RC and Dottie Whitman, Bobby and Misty Smith with sons Jacob and Ethan, Debra (Rick) and Josh Strickland, Jennifer (Tim) and Dakota Hudson and Tommy "Tater" Smith.
He was in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff in Polk County Florida for eighteen years. He then became an engineer for APT Channel 26 for twenty-two years before retiring in 2020. He was elected territorial governor for the Alabama Rangers because of his love of cowboy action shooting. He also enjoyed all types of living history. Buddy Luke loved life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He loved God and country.
