Versie Stinson Owens, 88, of Pine Apple, AL, died at her residence in Awin, AL on Thursday, April 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Jenkins Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. J. W. Land officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Joel & Dollie Stinson, husband, Riley Eugene Owens, son, Jessie Thomas Owens, step-children: Kennith Owens, Verlene Johnston, Allmon E. Owens, sisters: Irene Reeves, Maggie Nicholas & brother: Veston Stinson. She is survived by her children: Billy (Faye) Owens of Silverhill, AL, Anna Marie (Doug) Herring of Pine Apple, AL, step-daugher: Wylene Weaver of Mobile, AL, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, sisters: Gloria Boutwell (Ervin) of Greenville, AL, Olene Wingard (Carl) of McKenzie, AL, Lillian Lee (Sammie) of Chickasaw, AL, Clois Paige of Greenville, AL, Wanda Newton of Greenville, AL, brother: Colonel Stinson (Annie Lee) of McKenzie, AL and 8 step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
