Velma Elizabeth Giddens Schultz, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the age of 91 in Midway, Georgia. Born in Greenville, Alabama, on May 21, 1934, Velma’s life was marked by a deep love for her family and a heartwarming spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Her family will hold a Visitation on February 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at Dunklin Funeral Home in Greenville, Alabama, beginning at 12:00 PM with Brother David Atchison officiating. Friends and family are invited to honor her memory and celebrate the life she so beautifully lived. Graveside services will immediately follow at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be reunited with her beloved husband. Dunklin Funeral Home will be directing services.
Velma was a nurturing mother, a devoted grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Schultz (Richard) Reeves, and her son, Sergeant First Class-Retired, Mickey B. (Anita) Schultz. Her legacy extends to her beloved grandchildren, Major-Retired, Andrea Brooke Schultz (Col-Retired, Paul) Fidler, Afton Schultz, Kelly (Tamara) Reeves, and Navy Veteran Austin Boyd (Petty Officer First Class, Rachel) Schultz. Velma was also a proud great-grandmother to Cameron Morgan, Alexis Fidler, Ainslee A. Fidler, and Lucas Boyd Schultz, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit within them.
Her life was enriched by her treasured siblings, Doris Giddens Saucer and Ola Mae Giddens Bowler, with whom she shared countless memories and laughter over the years.
Velma is predeceased by her loving husband, Earnest B. Schultz, who was by her side for many cherished years, and her parents, William Hillary Giddens and Rosa Lowery Giddens, whose values and love for family shaped the remarkable woman she became. She also mourns the loss of her sister, Betty Luckie, whose memory will forever hold a place in her heart.
Velma’s life was one of love, strength, and perseverance. Her kindness touched many, and her memory will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and unity within her family that will continue to inspire future generations.
