Vela Cauthen Pugh

Vela Cauthen Pugh, a resident of Pine Apple, Alabama, passed away at Baptist South Hospital on October 25, 2026, at the age of 92.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Awin Community Cemetery with Brother Bryan Gibson officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for visitation in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Vela was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Rankin Pugh; her parents, Frank Cauthen and Irene Schofield Cauthen; her siblings, Frank Cauthen, Ray Cauthen, Ira Cauthen, Birdie Mae Cowart, Louise Kelley, and Katie Lee Duffell.

She is survived by her children, Janice Pugh Cole (Johnny), Jimmy Wayne Pugh and Carolyn Pugh Black (Joe); grandchildren, John Cole, Joseph Black, Jana Pugh and Joshua Pugh; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Hannah Cole; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Flowers are accepted or memorial gifts may be given to the Awin Community Cemetery Fund.
