Susan McConnell Foster Haigler passed away on September 13, 2025, at her home after an extended illness. She was born December 21, 1939, in Tyler, Texas to the late Mildred McConnell Foster and George Lunsford Foster.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brightman Haigler, Jr. and their daughter Mary Susan.
Susan is survived by her son, Charles Brightman Haigler,III, her sister-in-law, Carol Stephens Haigler, her brother-in-law, Timothy Cottrell Haigler,Sr. (Ann) and one nephew, Timothy Cottrell Haigler,Jr.
Susan grew up in Montgomery, Alabama and attended Margaret Booth School, Cloverdale School and was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. She attended Mount Vernon College and graduated from the University of Alabama.
Susan spent her married life in Fort Deposit, Alabama, where she was very active in the community and co-founded the arts and crafts fair, Calico Fort.
Susan was a dedicated member of the Republican Party and represented Alabama as a delegate to several national conventions.
After her husband's death, Susan moved back to Montgomery where she was active in many civic and social organizations, including The Junior League of Montgomery.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Susan's long-time caregivers, Janice Baldwin and Deundra Russell, for their many years of faithful service.
Services for Susan will be held at Saint John's Episcopal Church in Montgomery, Alabama, at 1:00 p.m. (with visitation one hour prior to the service), on Friday, September 19th, followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Paul Davis, Stuart Franco, Gantt Hartley, Mark Gibson, Parker Pruitt and Paul Stabler. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlyle Chandler, Billy Hill, Henry Moore, Jerry Moore, and Ben Venable. Crucifer is Billy Norrell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Avenue, Suite 1100 North, Bethesda, Maryland 20814.
