Mrs. Sarah Lanell Till Madaris, 99, after residing at Asher Point in Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully on Resurrection Sunday Morning, April 5, 2026.
Born on July 14, 1926, to Oliver Wood Till and Maude Wheeler Till in Braggs, AL, “Nell” married Charles Thomas Madaris, Jr. (deceased) and they had four children while serving in the Air Force. Oldest daughter, Wanda predeceased “Nell” in 2020 and second daughter, Martha, died at age three in 1954. Known as “Bama” to many, she delighted in time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with weekly trips to the beauty shop and bowling. A proud passion of hers was hosting family events at her cabin on Lake Martin.
Survivors include son, Charles T. Madaris, III. “Chuck” (Katie), Jack Till Madaris (Donna); son-in-law, Keith Fulton; grandchildren, Lea and David Quezada, Charles F. Madaris (Melissa), Magen Galloway (Eric), Kathleen Evans (Bradfield), Seth Madaris (Jessica), Shane Madaris (Trenna); and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Ryder, Shelby, Molly, Emmy, Gage, Hutch, Curtis, Ellis Ann, Shep, Jack, Kylee and Zechariah; sister-in-law, Kay Madaris and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Rita Copeland and Carolyn who faithfully cared for “Bama” for several years.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm with Seth Madaris officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing at New Bethel-Braggs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 until 2:00 pm at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in her memory to Camp Wiregrass, P. O. Box 311072, Enterprise, Al 36331.
