Roberta Thomas Smith, a resident of Greenville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home after a serious illness.
Roberta is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles Auburn Thomas and Ava Naomi Thomas, and her siblings Elizabeth Ruark Bergen, Charles Auburn Thomas, Jr., Ruth Thomas White, Heatwole Campbell Thomas, and Camille Anne Thomas.
Roberta is survived by her daughter, Sarah Hemingway Smith of Greenville, Alabama, her son, Michael Prentice Thomas Smith of Greenville, Alabama, and nieces, Patricia Meyer of Lake Wales, Florida, Bonny Belle Lee of Roanoke, Virginia, Sally Thomas Worland of Chickamauga, Georgia, Catherine LaPenta of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Martha Troup-Mayforth of Wilmington, Delaware, and nephews Chuck Troup of Suffolk, Virginia, Tom Troup of Wernersville, Pennsylvania, Rob Troup of Holtwood, Pennsylvania, Tommy Thomas of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, and many extended family.
Every city where Roberta lived, she became an active member of the Episcopal Church along with her husband and children. She found much peace there. She was born in the Baptist Church and grew up learning the verses in Sunday School.

One of Roberta's favorite bible verses, which she exemplified beautifully was,
"And be ye kind, one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God in Christ has forgiven you." Ephesians 4:32
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Greenville, Alabama. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
