Robert Daniel "Danny" Jones, 72, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully on November 23rd, 2020 after a period of illness. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 in the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Graveside services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery withDunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Danny was born October 14, 1948 to Walter Reith Jones and Lillian McCormick Jones of Greenville, Alabama. A graduate of Birmingham Southern College, his love of numbers and precision led him to a lifelong career in Finance and Accounting, and later to the pursuit of graduate work at Auburn University at Montgomery. His career was spent working first for Montgomery Beverage Company, and later for True Value Hardware, where he remained until his retirement.

Danny's interests in nature and travel led him to places such as the Grand Canyon, where as a hobbyist photographer, he created his own photo shoots and developed photos in his home photography lab. He thoroughly enjoyed puzzles and figuring out solutions to problems, both on paper and in real life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed books covering a wide variety of subjects. But most importantly, Danny was known by everyone who knew him as a kind and generous individual with a heart of gold, who was always available to provide a listening ear or a valuable piece of advice.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his stepmother Mildred Gilbert Jones. He is survived by his sister, Emily Jones Shiller of Montgomery, his niece Alison Shiller Belcher (Jason) of Atlanta, as well as by multiple cousins and many lifelong friends and associates.
