Rev. Joseph Winston "Joe" Lisenby

Rev. Joseph Winston “Joe” Lisenby, 88, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at his home.

Joe held a doctorate degree in theology and served as Reverend at First United Methodist Church in Greenville. He also served for many years as Superintendent of the United Methodist Church of the South Alabama/West Florida Conference, as well as at many other congregations. In addition, Joe served as Interim President and CEO of the United Methodist Children's Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Wesley Lisenby and Grace Byrd Lisenby, as well as his brother, Edward Wesley Lisenby.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Millie West Lisenby; daughter, Nancy Lisenby Benson; son, Joseph Winston Lisenby, Jr. (Susan); grandchildren, Frances Grace Benson Kelly (Jessie) and Elizabeth Cole Benson Halford (Jody); and great-grandchildren, Thomas Wayne Halford, Hallie Grace Halford, Annie Joe Kelly, and Blakleigh Kelly.
