Obituary

Reginald Paul McDonald, 86, a resident of Camden, went to his heavenly home on December 23, 2016 with close family by his side. After 62 years of marriage, he joined his wife, Faye McDonald, for their first Christmas in Heaven. He was also preceded in death by his parents, N.E. and Mattie McDonald, and great nephew, Hudson Steele. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Danny) McDonald and wife, Gloria, two sister-in-laws, many loving nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Reginald was a member of the Wilcox County High School Class of 1949 and enjoyed keeping in contact with his teachers and fellow classmates. In his early years, Reg worked side by side with his brother in the pulpwood business, and later they worked together in managing McDonald's Grocery & Sports Store and running McDonald Brothers Farm. He was a hard worker, small town farmer and cattleman at heart and enjoyed spending many days taking care of their livestock.

He was a devoted Christian and longtime member of the Camden United Methodist Church. He loved his wife, his family, and friends. He was known for his love of sports, talking, and telling tales.

The funeral will be at Camden United Methodist Church on Monday, December 26, 2016 with Pastor Brian Dovey officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home of Camden, Al directing. Burial service was held at the Camden Cemetery. Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service. Pallbearers were Clifford Bradford, R.J. Browder, Leo Hollinger Jr., Shannon Hollinger, Billy Malone, Frank McGraw, Bryant Pearson, and James Pearson. Honorary pallbearers were R.T. Ashley, Jimmy Brock, David Brown, Peyton Burford, John Cook, Andrew Cunningham, Clarence Duckworth, Tommy Gregory, Gene Handley, Billy Harris, Fleet Hollinger, Clarence Mitchell, Aubrey Morgan, Terry Taylor, and Sam Woodson.

Memorials may be made to Camden United Methodist Church Youth Fund.
