Rebecca Dawn Walden

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Rebecca (Becky) Dawn Walden (Freeland), age 56, on March 29, 2026 at her home in Greenville Alabama.

A woman with a deep devotion to her family and close friends, Becky was born January 11, 1970 in Mobile, Alabama. She later relocated with her family at the age of 10 to Greenville, Alabama.

After attending Greenville High School, she earned a degree in Speech-Language Pathology from West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia. Becky lived in Newnan, Georgia where she worked several years within the Coweta County school system before returning to settle in Greenville to spend more time with her daughter and her family and providing support for her mother.

Becky enjoyed reading and her book club, trips to the beach and traveling to new places, and had immense passion for her family. She was a generous person with a big heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren. She loved reading books with them, making crafts, and playing games. Seeing their smiles, receiving big hugs with their little arms, and hearing their laughter filled her heart.

Becky is survived by her daughter, Mallory Dawn Duncan and husband Jason; two grandchildren, Jack and Lula Duncan; mother, Mary P Freeland; older brother Howard and wife Shirley; and several nephews, nieces, and great nieces.

She is preceded in death by her father, Elwood Greer Freeland; paternal grandparents Bill and Mary Freeland; and maternal grandparents Lamar and Sport Pierce.

A memorial service to honor Becky‘s life will be held on Wednesday, April 1st at Dunklin Funeral Home located at 812 West Commerce St., Greenville, AL. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10 AM until the service at 11 AM.

Her departure comes as a great shock and is gravely felt by her entire family and network of friends who loved her deeply. She will be missed dearly. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
