Hartsell
June 15, 1929 – April 20, 2026
Ramona Sampley Hartsell, a cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at the venerable age of 96. Born on June 15, 1929, in Butler County, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of Ishmael and Jewel Chancellor Sampley.
For nearly three decades, Ramona devoted herself as a diligent clerk at the Social Service Administration office in Montgomery, where her commitment and steadfastness earned the respect of many. Though she found joy in the quiet pleasures of life—particularly the companionship of her cats and the engrossing worlds of mystery novels—her greatest love was for her family, especially her daughter Melissa, to whom she was deeply devoted.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Melissa. She is lovingly remembered by her niece Sandra and her husband Mike Rogers of Waco, Texas; Rebecca and her husband David Ginter of Lebanon, Tennessee; and her first cousin Louis and his wife Carol Perdue of Greenville, Alabama.
Her final resting place will be a family cemetery near Greenville, Alabama, where she will be laid to rest among loved ones.
The family extends profound gratitude to the Greene Family of Montgomery for their compassionate care and unwavering support during Ramona's later years, a comfort that was deeply appreciated.
Ramona Sampley Hartsell’s life was one marked by quiet strength, dedication, and a gentle spirit, leaving behind memories cherished by all who knew her.
