Peggy Perdue Bush, age 84, of Greenville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home with Brother Rick Taylor and Sister Lynn Taylor officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Louis O. Perdue and Rosalie Sampley Perdue, her siblings Annice "Sunny" Perdue Senn and William Stephen "Steve" Perdue and her sons Rodney Glenn Bush and infant son.

Those left to cherish precious memories of her include the love of her life, her husband of 67 ½ years Harold "Gene" Bush, daughters Tammy (Patrick) Smith and Pam (Mike) Stephenson.  Grandchildren David (Alisha) Stephenson, Zac (Lauren) Smith, Nathan (Sky) Stephenson and Ryan (Delana) Smith and great grandchildren, Easton and Ryker Stephenson, Henry, Lucy, Rhett and Lottie Smith. Brother Louis "Duke" (Carol) Perdue and numerous extended family members.

Peggy was the 1st child of the late Louis and Rosalie Perdue born on May 23, 1940, and raised on a small farm in Honoraville, AL.  She grew up with three younger siblings.  She worked on the farm picking cotton and other crops in season and cooking for the family.

She met her true love thru a date arranged by friends, she was married at the age of 17 where a life of pure love and devotion was formed. Having three children in four years she became a fulltime housewife/homemaker, providing the ultimate care for her family.  She was the disciplinarian of the family, keeping her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews in line when needed.

She was very active in her church as secretary and Director of Music at Liberty Methodist Church for over 45 years.  She was the bookkeeper for Bush Mobile Homes, the family business.  She had a love for flowers/plants and could take a cutting off any plant and it would flourish.  She was the best Nanny to her four grandsons, providing day care for all of them kept her very busy but brought her great pleasure.  She missed them so much once they all went to school.  She participated in every activity they were a part of.  She always made time for her children and grandchildren.  She loved to prepare meals for her family and was absolutely the Best Cook.  She adored her six great grandchildren and loved to watch them playing around her and climbing up in the bed to give her hugs.

She loved to go shopping and made lots of friends in her weekly shopping trips.  She always remembered birthdays and made Christmas extra special.  Her heart was full of love and kindness.  She always put others before herself.  She will be remembered as a loving and nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother.

Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice staff and personal caretaker, Tommie Kendrick, for the love and kindness provided during her extended stay at home.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Stephenson, Nathan Stephenson, Zac Smith and Ryan Smith, Dr. Brian Sellers, and Andrew Sellers.
