CRAIG, Paul Edward, Sr., age 78, a resident of Ft. Deposit, AL, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the home he shared with his family for over forty-five years. Mr. Craig was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be forever remembered for his outgoing personality and kindness toward all. He was born on May 6, 1933 in Greenville, Alabama, where he resided until he met and married the love of his life, Della Perdue Craig, and they moved to Fort Deposit to raise their three children. He was committed to serving his family, his country, and the town of Fort Deposit. Mr. Craig honorably served his country in the Korean War and continued his military service with the Army National Guard for nearly forty-six years thereafter. Among his numerous contributions to the town of Fort Deposit, Mr. Craig was a charter member of the Fort Deposit Arts Council, chairman of the board for the Fort Deposit United Methodist Church and he served as mayor from 1992 to 2000. He was also a long-term member of Masonic Lodge #291 in Fort Deposit, Alabama.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Deposit United Methodist Church with Rev. Burney Enzor and Rev. Dennis Carlson officiating . Burial will follow in Myrtlewood Cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday, March 9, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fort Deposit United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 398, Fort Deposit, AL 36032.
Mr. Craig is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Della Perdue Craig and brother James H. Craig. Survivors include daughter, Sara Jane Craig of Fort Deposit; two sons, Edward Craig (Jinny) of Fort Deposit and Henry Michael Craig of Greenville; three grandchildren, Brooke Altazan (Blake), Chad Watford, and Hunter Craig; and sister, Edna Craig Martin (Montie) of Greenville.
