IN LOVING MEMORY OF
O'Neil
Kennedy
October 24, 1924 – December 21, 2025
O'Neil Kennedy died peacefully on December 21, 2025, in Greenville, Alabama. He was born October 24, 1924, and recently celebrated his 101st birthday with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Antioch East Baptist Church with Rev. Blair McBride officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ina Earle Kennedy; siblings, Mary Belle Bentley, Mildred Bentley, Woodrow Kennedy, Ina Mae Heartsill, Freddie Perdue, Edith Con Kennedy, and Edna Gafford.
He is survived by his sister, Erin Lansdon of Montgomery, Alabama, numerous nieces and nephews, and longtime friend Sherrill Nichols.
He began his career at Merrimac Hat Factory in the 1940s as an office supervisor. He also worked at Riegel Manufacturing in the 1950s and Boss Manufacturing Company in the 1960s as Payroll Manager and other positions. For the last several years of his career, he served as Vice President of Boss.
His hobbies were football (particularly Alabama football), baseball, and singing. He also served as a manager of several Little League teams and was a certified umpire.
Mr. Kennedy was a devoted servant of God and a lifelong member of Antioch East Baptist Church. He was a sweet and gentle soul who always extended a helping hand to those in need. Mr. Kennedy was loved by so many, and he loved his family and friends with all his heart. He will be dearly missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and friends at Country Place Memory Care for the excellent care and support they provided him the past several years. They were his family too, and he loved them all. He particularly enjoyed watching Alabama football games there with his good friend, Reese Raybon, where they would "whoop it up" watching the Crimson Tide, as he would say.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch East Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2303 Old Stage Road, Greenville, Alabama 36037.
