Obituary

Nina Elizabeth Chapman Philpot, age 72, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.  She was born on June 8, 1951, in Selma, Alabama to Ed and Sara Chapman.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 1, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Camden Baptist Church, 300 Broad Street, Camden, Alabama. Interment will follow at Camden City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, February 29, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Dunklin Funeral Home, 63 Camden Bypass, Camden, Alabama.

Beth graduated from Wilcox County High School in 1969 and attended Huntingdon College and graduated from Samford University where she studied piano with Dr. Betty Sue Shepherd.  She taught private piano in Birmingham before moving to Fort Worth, Texas to answer the call to full time Christian music ministry.  Beth graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth with a Master of Church Music degree in 1978.

Beth came home to Camden and was called to a music staff position at Camden Baptist Church.  She renewed acquaintance with a high school friend, Will Philpot and they married in March 1979.  In January 1980 Beth and Will moved to Fort Worth for him to attend Seminary.  Beth served as pianist at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Haltom City, Texas until she and Will were called home to Camden Baptist Church.  Beth soon became the church organist and staff pianist, a place of ministry for 38 years where she used her God given musical talents to bring excellence and elevation to worship and made a steadfast investment in the lives of so many people.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Will Philpot, her daughter Elizabeth, her son Brad (Laura) and four precious grandchildren, Sarah, Sadie, Samantha and Seth Philpot.  She is also survived by her brother Frank (Gala) and special friends Fan Tait and Lou Albritton and a host of other relatives and friends.
