Obituary

Nelda Joyce Saucer Sanders passed away Saturday morning, December 28, 2013 in Greenville. She was born February 21, 1934, in Forest Home and married her high school sweetheart, Joe Sanders, in 1951. Doots and Dootsie were married 53 years.
She was first a member of Forest Home Baptist Church and spent her adult life as a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville where she sang in the choir and was basically there every time the doors were open. She worked for First National/Whitney Bank for more than 30 years and later served as Matron of the Butler County Jail. Mawmaw and Big Daddy loved their grandchildren dearly and lived for the moments they could be with and do for them.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Jewel Stringfellow Saucer, by her husband, Sheriff Joe Sanders, her brother, Julius Saucer and sisters Marie English, Annie Claire Harris, Doris Todd, and Geraldine McGee.
She leaves behind precious memories to her children Linda Daughtry (Freddie), and Joey Sanders (Luanne); grandchildren Jennifer Gibson (Jamie), Lindsay Johnson, Holton Bell, Anne Heaton Sanders, great grandson James Henry Gibson, sister Catherine Elmore, and sister-in-law, Nell Saucer.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 in the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Memorials may be made to the Organ Fund at First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 426, Greenville, AL 36037. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Crowne Health Care and Comfort Care Hospice of Greenville.
