Celebrating the Life of Michael Anthony Cook (“Tony”)
Michael Anthony Cook, known to most as Tony, was born on July 16, 1961, in Butler County, Alabama. On February 7, 2026, Tony passed away in Georgiana, Alabama, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and miles worth remembering.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda Cook Smith, and his son Michael Ethan Cook. Though their loss shaped his heart, Tony carried their memory with him everywhere he went.
He leaves behind his son, Jordan Thomas Cook; brothers Terry (Bendy) Cook, Darrell (Loretta) Smith , Andrew Smith, Donnie (Peggy) Smith ; extended family Steve (Susan) Cook, Will “ Tommy” ( Regina) Cook Jr and, James “Puddin” ( Patricia) Jernigan ; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his lifelong friend Peter (Patricia) Hanson—family by choice as much as by blood.
Tony was a truck driver for most of his life, a calling that fit him perfectly. He spent many years with Bonnie Plants, traveling across the country and working in several states, including Pennsylvania and New Mexico. For Tony, the road wasn’t just a job—it was freedom. He never rushed through life, always finding time to stop, explore, and make memories along the way.
When he wasn’t behind the wheel of a big rig, Tony was most at home on two wheels with his true love, “Scarlet,” his Harley-Davidson. He logged countless miles, often heading to Florida to spend time with his good friend Pete, riding motorcycles, fishing, laughing, and soaking in life exactly as it came.
Tony lived by a motto that meant everything to him: “It’s all about the good times, Pop.” Those words, spoken by his late son Ethan, became Tony’s guiding light. He lived fully, loved deeply, and made sure the people around him felt welcome, entertained, and appreciated.
Anyone who met Tony remembered him. His smile, his unmistakable laugh, and his gift for storytelling could hold a room captive until the very last word. He had a way of making people feel like old friends—even if he’d just met them.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Brushey Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Harvill and Bro. Gary Glass officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., just before the service.
Tony’s journey may have reached its final mile, but his stories, laughter, and love will ride on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
