Melvin Austin Johnson (Ricky), age 71, of Greenville, AL, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Ricky is survived and missed by his devoted wife Helen of over 50 years; his sons, Russell (wife Amanda) and Jeremy (wife Tracy); his grandchildren Alexander, Ally, Alyssa, Austin, Brianna, Gavin, and Hayden; his great-granddaughter Nevaeh; his brothers Claude, David, Robert (wife Peggy), Walter (wife Debbie); his sister Lynell (husband Robert); and his sons of the heart Al (wife Kalyn) and Jarrod (wife Stephanie).

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mildred Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at Southside Baptist Church of Greenville, AL, on April 21st at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked instead that donations be made to the Shepherd's Table (Southside Baptist Church) in Ricky's memory.

Ricky will be remembered as a son of God and a child of the King; he lived as a lion.
