Childress, Mary Helen Gillion, 83, a native of Greenville, AL and a longtime resident
of Tuscaloosa and Slapout, AL, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Plano, TX. Funeral services will be Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Gayle Woodard officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. until service time. The family requests any donations be made to Bethel Cemetery Fund, 196 Bell Road, Ft. Deposit, AL 36032.
A graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, IN, Mrs. Childress worked for many years for the State of Alabama as a food-stamps counselor. She is survived by three sons, Rory Childress of Lewisville, TX, Mark Childress of Key West, FL and Alan Childress of New Orleans, LA; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Childress and three grandchildren, Joshua, Ani, and Steven Childress.
