Mary Burford Atkins Gendron, a resident of Forest Home (Monterey) Alabama, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 88.

Mary was a beloved educator, with the majority of her years teaching K5 at Greenville Academy. She was a cherished 50-year member of First Methodist Church of Greenville and the Wesleyan Sunday School Class.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, beginning at 11am at First Methodist Church of Greenville, Alabama with Rev. Dr. Robert "Bob" Yawn officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing.   The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 am until service time.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Powell Atkins and Nettie Harris Mills Atkins Thompson, and her husband, Edward Everett "Pete" Gendron.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Nichols and Cheryl (Dale) Gates; grandchildren, Tristan Nichols, Killian Nichols, Christopher Gates, Vivian Gates, Eloise Gates, Adaline Gates; cousins; and dear brothers in-law Joe (Kathie) Gendron, Ronnie (Gloria) Gendron and their extended family in Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Greenville-Butler County Public Library to honor her lifelong love of reading.
