Copeland, Mrs. Marihelen Mims, 85, a resident of Greenville, AL was born March 10, 1925, in Birmingham AL and passed this life on January 24, 2011, in Greenville AL. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Saturday January 29th. at 11:00 a.m. in Greenville, AL. She was the daughter of Glennie Thompson Mims and Oscar Lake Mims of Birmingham, AL. Merihelen is preceded in death by one brother, O. L. Mims and one sister, Pauline Mims (Dr. John) Rose, both of Birmingham, AL. She is survived by one son, Hal Ross Copeland, Jr. of Birmingham and one daughter Cecilia Copeland (Stirling, Jr.) Hamilton of Greenville, AL., one brother Robert Dean (Henrietta) Mims of Griffin, GA, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marihelen graduated the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, in Interior Design and was an Interior Designer in Birmingham for over 40 years. She also taught Interior Design at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, for many years. Merihelen was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother and friend and will be greatly missed by those who were blessed by knowing her. We are grateful for her life. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
