Bennett, Jr. Mr. Julius Richardson, age 88, a resident of Greenville, AL, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Joe Lisenby officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the Bennett's home, 545 Bala Clava Dr. Greenville, AL, immediately following graveside services.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his son, Robert Brock Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margery "Midge" Bennett, daughter, Jean Bennett Katz of Greenville, AL, son, Bruce Dozier (Faye) Bennett of Pine Apple, AL, grandchildren, Julian (Marie) Katz, Jr. of Mobile, AL, Jennie (Stirling) Hamilton, III of Greenville, AL, Margery (West) Martin of Eufaula, AL, Sarah (Ross) Parker of Birmingham, AL, Alex (Tommy) Ryan of Birmingham, AL, Will Dixon of Auburn, AL, Braden Dixon of Pine Apple, AL, and five great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Julian Katz, Jr., Stirling Hamilton, III, West Martin, Ross Parker, Tommy Ryan, and Will Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will be John Taber of Fairhope, AL, Floyd McGowin of Chapman, AL, Edgar Welden of Birmingham, AL, Henry Barclay of Birmingham, AL, Steve Giles of Pensacola, FL, Bill Hudgens of Montgomery, AL, Ron Coleman of Greenville, AL, and Willie Miller of Greenville, AL.
Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Marion Institute and the University of Alabama. He was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp and founder of Pensacola Aviation and charter member of the Alabama Forestry Association. He served as Chairman of the State Republican Party for three terms and delegate to the National Convention in 1956, 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, and 1978.
