Josie Massey Smith

Josie Massey Smith, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 89.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Rutledge Methodist Church with Reverend Dunford Cole officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Rutledge Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:30 until service time.

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Smith; her parents, Comer and Grace Massey.

She is survived by her children, Joanne Whetstone (Chris), Tyease Holmes (Jack), Wyndol Smith; grandchildren, Loyce Petrey, Julie Petrey, Grey Bowen, Rayni Holmes, Teysa Money; along with great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
