Mr. Joseph Gerald Cates, age 83, a resident of Fort Deposit, AL, died on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Little Sandy Ridge Cemetery near Fort Deposit, AL, with Minister Jack Cates officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Dunklin Funeral Home.

Mr. Cates is preceded in death by his wife Nancy C. Cates, an infant son, and his parents, James H. and Estelle C. Cates. He is survived by his children, James C. Cates (Kay) of Boulder, CO, Joseph E. Cates (Lourdes) of San Marino, CA, Charlotte C. Gard (Duke) of Las Cruces, NM, Claire C Haulk (Kevin) of Griffin, GA, nine grandchildren, and his sister, Joyce C Foster of Fort Deposit, AL.
