John Shackleford "Shacky" Payne, Jr., age 83, of Letohatchee, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his parents, John Shackleford Payne, Sr. and Mona Bodiford Payne, as well as an infant son and infant daughter. He is survived by his children, Richard Payne and Tarina (Adam) Moores; grandchildren, Richie (Shannon) Payne and Sophie Moores; and siblings, Linda Kuykendall, Leta Heartsill, Charlotte (Donnie) Hamff, and Danny (Tammy) Payne. He is also remembered by numerous extended family members and friends.

Shacky devoted many years to working as a cattle farmer, a testament to his commitment and connection to the land. His life and work leave a lasting legacy among those who knew him.
