John D. Murphy, Jr., 56, of Opelika, Ala., passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Born on November 8,1968 in Greenville, Ala., John graduated from Greenville High School in 1987. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management from Auburn University in 1991, and was employed at Remington Arms in LaGrange, Ga.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Susan Samford and John Darryl Murphy, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kim; daughter Kailey Murphy and son, Dalton Murphy, all of Opelika; sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Greg) Coker of Pelham, Ala.; brother-in-law Eddie (Delana) Anderson of Greenville, Ala.; nieces Amanda (Chris) Morgan of Alabaster, Ala., and Laikyn Anderson of Greenville; and nephews Michael Coker of Pelham, and Wyatt Anderson of Greenville.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Dunklin Funeral Home (812 W Commerce St. in Greenville) beginning at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery.
