Joanne Beeland McGowin died, on Friday, May 24, 2013. Born October 24, 1928, she is survived by her husband of 59 years, Sumpter Milligan McGowin and her three children, Frances Beeland, James Earle (Lucy) and Mints Milligan (Steadham) and her five grandchildren; Sumpter II, Brooks, Peter, Kessler and Carleton; two sisters, Frances Frakes and Connie Nielsen. She is predeceased by her sister, Prather Nielsen and her parents.

Joanne was a lifetime resident of Greenville, AL, an active member of St. Thomas Church and a Volunteer with Comfort Care Hospice. Her genuine interest in helping others touched so many lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to K-9s for Kids, Service Dogs trained for children with disabilities. Donations can be mailed to K-9s 4 Kids, 5960 East Shirley Lane, Montgomery, AL 36117.

The Memorial Service will be Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at St.
Thomas Episcopal Church with The Reverend Reid McCormick officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. at 111 Herbert Street, Greenville, AL (the building adjacent to the church).
