Mrs. Janie Smith Rogers, 96, a resident of Greenville, died at her home on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. A celebration of life service will be Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with Reverend John Howard Kervin and Reverend Herbert Brown officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband: Grady Rogers; infant twins; parents, John William and Pearlie Mae Smith; two grandchildren; three brother and six sisters.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her children: Frances Henderson (Charles), Barbara Hattaway (Leon), Billy Rogers (Maxine), Judy Thrower (James), Charles Rogers (Judy), Janelle Newton (Bob), Roy Rogers (Janice), and Steve Rogers (Linda) all of Greenville, AL; grandchildren: Joi Jernigan, Jeff, David, Justin, Jason, and Casey Rogers, Michael and Roger Thrower, Jim and Tim Hattaway, Todd Henderson, Jennifer Lee, Charlene Powell, Melinda Gibson, Mark Newton and Penny Bowen; ten grandchildren in-law; twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The family wishes to thank one very special caregiver, Cynthia Howard and Southern Care Nurses Monica Stringer and Donna Raybon. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
