James Vance Scott (Jim), 85, of Greenville, Alabama passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance M. and Martha Elynor Scott of Washington, Oklahoma and his sister, Sandra Suzanne Scott Rabbitt of Cedar Hill, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rhoda Katharine Gill Scott; brother Steven Thomas Scott; son Douglas Vance Scott, Daughter in law Daria Stimson Scott; son David Gill Scott and Heather Cook Scott; and seven grandchildren he adored as their "Papa Jim" – Katharine Renee Lopez (John), Theresa Ann Scott, Ashton Elizabeth McLendon (Kirk), Maire Suzanne Scott, Jackson Gill Scott, Harrison Stephen Scott and Madelyn Elizabeth Scott as well as his first great grandchild Phillip Kirkland McLendon, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Elk City, Oklahoma, Jim graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He moved from Oklahoma with his young family to Greenville, Alabama in 1972 to begin his career at Rheem Manufacturing Company. Jim retired from Rheem in 1990 but was far from finished working as he opened, owned and operated Greenville Appliance Center until he fully retired in 2008.
Jim was a member of First Methodist Church of Greenville and is now with our Lord and Savior above! He loved Greenville and helped serve his community through his business and as a member of the Greenville Kiwanis Club, where he held the office of President. An avid outdoorsman, Jim was a motorcycle enthusiast who also loved hunting, fishing, camping, boating, cooking and playing an occasional round of golf.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brandon Slagley, the staff members of Crowne Healthcare and Southern Care Hospice for all their benevolence and compassion.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Robert C. Yawn officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
