Irma (Cathy) Chandler Lowery, age 83, of Forest Home, Alabama, passed away on April 6, 2026. She was born in Peterman, Alabama, to Irma Faye and George Lee Chandler.
Cathy was married for 39 years to the love of her life, Paul Lowery. She built a life centered around love, family, and simple joys. She had a deep love for animals and spent many years rescuing and caring for dogs and cats, always making room for one more in need. She also found great happiness working in her flowerbeds, where her care and patience brought beauty to everything she touched.
Cathy will be remembered most for her warm spirit. She always had a smile for everyone and shared her happiness freely wherever she went. Her kindness and gentle nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Lowery; her daughters, Angie (Karl) Driver Baggett, Tammy (Richard) Lowery Dunn, and Lisa (Wilbur) Lowery Oswald; her son-in-law, Jimmy Nelson; her grandchildren, Sara (Tim) Salter Johnson, Bart (Sarah) Nelson, Cody (Nikki) Nelson, Corey (Shawna) Nelson, Will Oswald, and Eli Oswald; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irma Faye and George Lee Chandler; her brother, Clifford Chandler; and her daughter, Mellony Driver Nelson.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Home Cemetery with Brother Mike Phillips officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Butler County Humane Society, P. O. Box 264, Greenville, Alabama 36037.
Irma’s life was a quiet example of love, kindness, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were blessed to know her.
