Obituary

Hubert Lee Miller, 93, of Greenville, Alabama, passed away on January 19, 2015 in Milton, Florida, where he had resided for the last three years.
Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. with funeral following at 2:00 p.m. Hubert will be buried at Magnolia Cemetery next to his loving wife of seventy-three years, Myrtice Etta (Copeland) Miller with Reverend David Saliba officiating. Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will include all the grandsons.
Hubert was born in Greenville, Alabama to Albert George Miller and Minnie Clyde Reynolds Miller on March 23, 1921. He attended Greenville High School where he was an avid sportsman and participated in playing football and basketball. He was married to Myrtice Etta Copeland (Miller) of Henderson, Alabama on April 30, 1939. Hubert and Myrtice have 5 daughters, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was devoted to being a husband and taking care of his family. Hubert was in the Navy and served during World War II. After returning home from his naval service, he worked for Smith's Bakery in Mobile, Alabama for approximately three years. Upon returning to Greenville, he started and operated his own company, Miller's Sales until 1976. He then owned and operated Sunshine Cleaners for the next eleven years. Upon selling the cleaners, he went to work for the State of Alabama for the next eleven years, at which time he retired. Hubert attended church with his family at the First United Methodist Church in Greenville. He attended adult Sunday School classes, served as a greeter before church services, was a member of the Couples Club that met each month for dinner and visiting, and was devoted to attending the morning and evening church services each week. Prior to his death, Hubert was the oldest living member of the First United Methodist Church.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Minnie Clyde Miller; brothers Curtis Miller, Kendrick Miller, Woodrow Miller and Reynolds Miller; sisters Dorothy (Dottie) Simpson, Ruth Strickland, Opal Lynn and Corrie Jordan; grandson Eric Washburn and his devoted wife, Myrtice Miller. He is survived by his daughters Annette Putnam, Gloria Carr, Jane Sweeney (Ezra), Rebekah Miller Allen (Elliott) and Angela Miller; grandchildren Adrienne Wilkinson, Alex Washburn, Brian Washburn, Michael McGill, Stephen McGill, Sidney Carr, Joseph Harville, James Harville, Kristopher Smith, Will Waller, Jason Hendrix, Autumn Allen, Alexandria Allen and Natalie Miller; great grandchildren, Alexandra Wilkinson, Paul Wilkinson, Sebastian Carr, Ryan Harville, Laken Harville and his numerous loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The First United Methodist Church in Greenville, Alabama.
