Harwell Parks Quillian Jr. died August 6, 2024, at the age of 78 due to respiratory failure following long battles with cancers.
Harwell (also known as Junior or Quill) was born in Valdosta, GA to Olga and Harwell Quillian but moved to Greenville, AL at a young age and did all his school years there. He joined the Air Force at 19 and became a member of the elite Pararescue teams which led to many awards for bravery including the DFC and Air Medals. Later careers included bush pilot in Alaska and oilfield drilling manager which took him to all corners of the earth. In 1998, he married Jenny, and they settled in Orlando until moving to Crawfordville, FL in 2019 to be closer to family.
Harwell is survived by his wife Jenny, sons Tony Bush (Beryl Lynn Bush) and Beau, brother Ed Quillian (Ruth), nieces Sharon Maddox (Ben), Abigail Stinson, and nephew Jimmy Stinson plus their families Aaron Bush, Sean Bush, Aaron Stinson, Matthew Maddox, Morgan Maddox, Sylvia Maddox.
The funeral service will be at 2pm on Monday, August 12 at the First Methodist Church, 112 Adam St, Greenville AL. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Legion or any veterans support group is requested.
