Obituary

Harold "Hal" Ray "Ree-Deep" Henderson, 81, a resident of Greenville, Alabama and former resident of Ten Mile, Tennessee, died April 24, 2011 at his residence with his loving wife by his side.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home in Greenville, Alabama with Rev. Felton Stewart officiating and music by Rev. Caleb Taylor. Pallbearers are Ron McSpadden, Timothy McSpadden, Brent McSpadden, Lamar Anderson, Mark Goodson and honorary pallbearer Caleb Taylor. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Greenville, Alabama.
He was born on September 4, 1929 at home on Saint Clair Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Lee College University in Cleveland, Tennessee and Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He was saved June 16, 1959. He was sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost during a revival held by Dr. T. L. Lowery at the Church of God Tabernacle in Detroit, Michigan in August 1959. He was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of God in Athens, Tennessee many years. He was an avid prayer warrior as well as an altar worker and attended church wherever he was. He will be sadly missed in this life, but we know we shall see him once again in his Heavenly home. God has for him a crown of life for his faithfulness serving our Lord on this earth.
Anyone that knew Hal knew him for his one liners: "Keep the SON shining," "Have you ever seen anyone with a head this hard?" "Good-er than most and better than some -said the little boy." He enjoyed fishing and outdoors and took his children camping numerous times while they were young. He liked cooking and grilling steaks with great expertise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Andrew Henderson and Edith Marie Henderson; two sons, Hal "Butch" Henderson and Clarence "Kip" Henderson; and one brother, Roy Lee Henderson.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Aileen Henderson. Survivors include one brother, Clyde Eugene Henderson; one sister, Edna Marie Needham and husband Paul; three daughters: Cindy Goodson and husband Mark, Yvonne Anderson and husband Lamar, Kimberly Fowler and husband Faron, and stepdaughter Patricia McSpadden and husband Ron; 10 grand children: Jamey Taylor, Tommy Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, Dallas Choplin, Ray Henderson, Jeremy Henderson, Rachel Fowler, Wendy Hutson, Timothy McSpadden, Brent McSpadden and 17 great-grand children: Caleb Taylor, Alyssa Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Brittany Choplin, Tyler Choplin, Andrew Choplin, Jr. Paige Choplin, Dallas "Little Man" Choplin, III, Danielle Hutson, Ariel Anderson, Ethan Anderson, Logan Anderson, Lola Bell McSpadden, Emma Brinkley McSpadden, Anna Katherine McSpadden, and Ashley Nicole McSpadden.
