Obituary

Barr, Freddie Arnold "Jerry", 73, a former resident of Mobile, AL, and current resident of Greenville, AL, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be Monday, April 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Street Church of Christ with Minister Charles Box officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home and Mr. Barr will lie in state from 10:00 till 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2012, at the church. Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents John & Mamie Barr, six brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife Joan Phillips Barr of Greenville, AL; sons, Brett Barr (Paige) of Spring Hill, TN and Joseph "Jody" Barr (Wei) of Prattville, AL; three grandchildren, Lacey Barr of Spring Hill, TN , Abby and Amelia Barr of Prattville, AL; brother James Barr (Margie) of Senoia, GA; brother-in-law Marcus Phillips of Greenville, AL, brother-in-law, Dennis Phillips (Margaret) of Greenville, AL, brother-in-law Glenn Phillips of Greenville, sister-in-law, Jenny Bolen (Glenn) of Montgomery, AL, many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
Mr. Barr was born in Cherokee County, AL. He served as an Elder at Walnut Street Church of Christ and worked 36 years for the Alabama Department of Transportation. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Guyana Missions Fund c/o Walnut Street Church of Christ, P. O. Box 551 Greenville, AL 36037.
