Charles Robert "Bobby" DeShields went to be with Jesus on the morning of Friday, May 1, 2015, at his home in Forest Home, Alabama. A graveside service will be held at the Forest Home Cemetery on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Neal Kelley officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife Jean DeShields; two children; Denise Matthes and her husband Scott Matthes of Montgomery and Chip DeShields and his wife Donna DeShields of Forest Home; five grandchildren: Virginia Lee Matthes, Priscilla Joy Matthes, Trip DeShields, Camellia Grace Matthes, and Emma Lee DeShields; sister: Jennie Sue Keen and husband Roy of Forest Home and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bobby was a faithful member of Forest Home Methodist Church and served in many leadership roles in his church and community. Bobby retired after 31 years as a design engineer for the Secondary Roads Division of the State of Alabama Highway Department. He also served his country in the United States Army (1955 - 1958) and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama.

Bobby will be missed but his family and friends know he is in Heaven with his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ in whom Bobby put his trust.
