Charles Coatesworth "Pete" Taylor, Jr., 80, of Greenville, Alabama, passed away on November 21, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 211 King Street in Greenville.

Born on September 25, 1944, Pete was the first of three sons to Charles and Lurline Taylor. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1962, where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He then went on to gain further education at Auburn University. Through dedication and hard work, he later earned his Land Surveying certification for the State of Alabama, thus starting a decades-long career.

Pete met his bride, Janice, in 1961 in the halls of Greenville High. They went on their first date - a Sunday School hayride - on October 7 of that same year. They married on July 9, 1965, were married for over 59 wonderful years, and raised two sons, Chuck and Chad, whom Pete coached and mentored in baseball. A skilled outdoorsman, you could often find him hunting, fishing, or working in his garden. He was a devoted son, a loyal husband, a loving father, grandfather, and uncle, a dependable brother, and a trusted friend to all.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Walter Bennett "Benny" Taylor.

Pete is survived by his wife, Janice Capps Taylor; his sons, Charles Coatsworth "Chuck" (Shelley) Taylor, III, and David Chad (Amanda) Taylor; his grandchildren Joshua Taylor, Haley (Seth) Almond, and Cade Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Elliott Coatsworth Almond, Waylon Reid Almond, and Parker Claire Almond; his brother, Arthur Lee (Nancy) Taylor; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
