Obituary

Charles Glenn McCormick passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 81.

Born on November 16, 1943, in Greenville, Alabama, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Brenda (Tucker) McCormick; his parents, Charles James McCormick and Mary Benjamin (Cross) McCormick; his sister, Hilda Cauthen, and his stepson, Scott Cone.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Emily Tucker (Gregg) and their children, Eva and Georgia; his son, Jason McCormick (Andria) and their children Graham and Mary Campbell; his stepson Michael Cone (Connie) and their children Veronica, Khadra, Marla and Carla; his daughter-in-law Angela Cone and her children Phillip and Ryan; his sisters, Jean McNaughton, Peggy Bass, Deborah (Scottie) Tindal and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Born and raised on the family farm in Greenville, he followed in his father's footsteps becoming a lifelong farmer, as well as a Rural Carrier for the United States Post Office for almost 40 years, just as his father and grandfather had.  He also proudly served in the Alabama National Guard.

As a young man, Charles could always be found deep in the swamps of Butler County coon hunting with his best friends Doug and Hill Wood, Jr, who would go on to be lifelong friends.  He also had an extraordinary ear for music, picking up the guitar at an early age and playing many songs strictly by ear.  He was a very gifted singer and will be known for playing "He'll Have to Go" by Jim Reeves on repeat as his way of teasing his wife with his antics.  The sounds from his coveted Alvarez Acoustic guitar always filled his home, creating an environment of love and warmth.

Charles' greatest joy was his family.  He was a loving husband, father and Papa.  He was a gentle soul who loved his community and always extended a helping hand to those in need.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15th, at Dunklin Funeral Home from 11am-1pm.
