Miller, Mr. Calvin Vastine, age 84, a resident of Greenville, AL, lost his battle with COPD-emphysema on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bob Paul officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Louise Gillman Miller, parents, James B. "Jim" and Nannie Andress Miller, four brothers and four sisters. He leaves behind one daughter, Susan (Nathan) Tindal of Honoraville, AL, son, Jimmy (Dianne) Miller of Mobile, AL, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Miller met and married Louise Gillman in Columbus, GA, where he was stationed while in the army. He joined the army on January 19, 1944, and was discharged on April 8, 1947. He later joined the Air Force on July 24, 1947, and was discharged on July 27, 1950. His military stint took him several states including Alaska and to France.
