Brenda Gail Burks Thomas was born on May 18, 1952 to Titus and Mary Burks in Enterprise, AL. She graduated from Enterprise High School and later graduated from Trenholm Technical College and Troy State University with degrees in nursing. Brenda worked as a nurse for thirty-two years before retiring. Our angel went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2014. Brenda was preceded by her parents, Titus and Mary Burks and an infant sister, Lina Gail Burks. Brenda leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband of forty-three years, Willie James "Jimmy" Thomas; two sons, Christopher (Cotrina) Thomas of Columbia, SC and Tarvaris "Tye" Doster of Denver, CO; a daughter, Katrina Thomas of Atlanta, GA; three lovable grandchildren, Derrick Hardamon, Jr. and Carrie and Christina Thomas; two very special aunts, Lillie Levingston and Mable Pierce; and two devoted friends, Ricky Bowling and Lena Ridgeway. Brenda also leaves a host of cousins, other family members, friends, and neighbors who loved her dearly.
Words cannot express what you have meant to us. You were the epitome of strength, love, and integrity. You care for us when we were sick and hurting. You loved us when we weren't so lovable. You were strong when we were weak. You told us what we needed to hear which wasn't always what we wanted to hear. You kept it real! We are better people for having you in our lives. You accomplished the mission for which you were sent. Now rest with your Savior, sweet angel, until we meet again.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in New Brockton, AL with Sister Pamela Baker officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
