Mr. Bobby Gean Young, Jr., of Fort Deposit, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Bobby was born in Opelika, Alabama on Friday, September 13, 1968. He passed away at the age of 54, which was also his high school football number.
There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. CST at the home of Christine Young.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gean Young, Sr., his mother, Minnie Lou Chatham Young, brothers-in-law, Dean Swindle of Foley, Alabama and Jay Lewis of Opelika, Alabama.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Christine Michelle Young; son, Rio Rivera-Young; daughter, Tatiana Rivera-Young; daughter, Sunii Young; son, William Young; sisters, Belinda Swindle of Foley, Patty Young of Foley, Teresa Lewis of Opelika; one brother, David (Jennifer) Young of Palm Harbor, Florida; nieces and nephews, Toby (Kimberly) Swindle, Stephnie (Blake) Cody, Dakota and Dillon Rookey, Dalton, Shelby, and Aaron Lewis, and Benjamin Young; four great-nieces and nephews, Ethan Robinson, Anna Claire and Ava Kate Cody, and Jordynn Lewis.
Bobby served in the military for 14 years and was an Army Desert Storm Veteran who passed away from complications resulting from the exposure to the burn pits in the Gulf War while Liberating Kuwait. He received the Kuwait Liberation Medal for his efforts on the front line. Bobby was also an Alabama National Guard Veteran. He was a dedicated coach and teacher to countless students and athletes whom he talked about often. Bobby was married to his loving wife, Christine for 22 years. He was a family man, loving husband, dad, coach, educator, soldier, brother and friend. Despite his health the past few months, he was full of life and love. He was excited about the formation of the family ranch and where it was going to go. He helped pick out the name and the logo. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
