Mrs. Kilpatrick was born on December 4, 1932 and raised on a small farm in Georgiana, AL in the depression era. Mama was the middle child of five in a good loving family. Mama attended New Home Methodist Church and she hated velvet beans. Mama loved animals, nature and growing things. Her heart was full of love, kindness and compassion for others. She always was concerned about others and put others before herself. Mama was very intelligent as was blessed with wisdom. Mama graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1951 from Georgiana High School. Mama married her high school sweetheart and raised her own family in the Rutledge community. Mama was not the type of person to preach to others with her words but she showed Jesus living in her life. Mama served God by serving others and taught by example. Mama always made time for her children and grandchildren. Mama loved to teach them common but important things; to love nature, to love God, and to love each other. Mama always made people feel welcomed in her presence and part of her family. Mama was full of hospitality and loved to entertain friends and family. Mama had a way of making people feel special and good, of great value and importance; because they always were to her. One of her favorite Bible scriptures was Psalms 23.
