Mrs. Alice Claire Newton Petty, 78, a resident of Montgomery, AL was born on November 21, 1934 and died on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Funeral services will be held today, Monday, March 4, 2013 at Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home, 812 West Commerce St., Greenville, AL 36037 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Central Baptist Church Cemetery in the Central Community, Greenville, AL. Pastor Rick Marshall of Eastern Hills Baptist Church will be officiating. She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Glenn (Bobbi) Petty of Jacksonville, FL, Jeff (Beth) Petty of Montgomery, AL, and Stan (Felisha) Petty of Honoraville, AL; two sisters, Scottie (Wayne) Roper of Greenville, AL, Sarah (Hollis) Lewis of Stockton, AL; brother Bob (Janelle) Newton of Greenville, AL; four grandsons, David, JP, Michael (Becca) & Daniel Petty; step-granddaughter, Kimberly (Tony) Hancock of Acworth, GA, several nieces, nephews, cousins, step-grand & step great-grandchildren and numerous other family members. Pallbearers are J. P. Petty, David Petty, Michael Petty, Daniel Petty, Tony Hancock and Mark Newton. Mrs. Petty is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Grady Lee Petty, parents Scott & Ruth (Hickman) Newton of Greenville, AL (Central). Dearly loved by her family and friends, she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and sister. We will always remember, "It isn't how long the flowers bloom but how beautifully."
