Lyon, Alice Hamilton, 89, a resident of Camden, AL died August 2, 2016. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Collirene, AL on Friday, August 5, 2016. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Wells officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Collirene Cemetery.
Mrs. Lyon is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lyon, her father John Floyd Hamilton, and her mother Cecile Jacobs Hamilton. She is survived by her children Edward Isaac Lyon and his wife Anne, Rosanne Lyon Wiggins and her husband Randy, John Alfred Lyon and his wife Mary; five grandchildren; Jacob Anderson Lyon and his wife Erin, Philip Hamilton Lyon and his wife Druann, Samuel Edward Lyon and his wife Brookelyne, Lauren Wiggins Dorminey and her husband Josh, and Elizabeth Grace Smith. Alice has one brother John F. Hamilton, Jr. and his wife Leah, one sister Anne H. Parker and many nieces and nephews. Alice was educated at Inverness School, Judson College, Auburn University, and Troy University. She taught music and elementary education in Birmingham, Columbus, GA, Dallas and Lowndes County schools. Pallbearers are: Duke Logan, Bill Lyon, Jacob Lyon, Philip Lyon, Samuel Lyon, Stephen Parker, Kenneth Parker, Scott Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Launch Global in account #103 for Samuel and Brooke Lyon's ministry, Post Office Box 19686, Birmingham, AL 35219, or one's favorite mission charity. Directions to the church: From U.S. Highway 80 near Benton, AL, turn south on Lowndes County Hwy 9 and go approximately 9 miles to the Collirene community. Turn right on Lowndes County Hwy 12 for A½ mile. Bethany Baptist Church is on the left.
